Renuvion is a cold plasma, helium-based treatment that is highly effective for tightening the skin, correcting lines and wrinkles, and improving surface abnormalities of the skin. It has been FDA-approved for cutting, coagulation, and ablation of soft tissue during open and laparoscopic surgical procedures.
When Renuvion is used under the skin, the helium and electric energy combination creates an effect that both heats and cools the tissue at the same time, delivering an effective tightening result. This process does not harm the surrounding tissue, and makes an excellent option for those who want to tighten the skin of the face, chin, neck, abdomen, and other parts of the body.
The recovery process includes wearing a compression garment for 72 hours straight, and then for six weeks whenever you’re at home. You can expect to have some swelling and soreness for several weeks. Results will become apparent at about three weeks, and results will continue to get better over the course of several months.
Renuvion helium plasma subdermal tightening can either be done alone, or along with Renuvion helium plasma dermal resurfacing for optimal results.
Renuvion combines the unique properties of helium plasma with the efficiency of radiofrequency energy to create a dual thermal effect. Renuvion uses radiofrequency energy to convert helium, an inert gas, into helium plasma (a higher energy form of helium):
Helium is used because it can be converted to the plasma state with very little energy. The tissue effect is partly due to absorption of heat from the heated helium plasma, and partly due to radiofrequency energy traveling through the helium plasma and into the tissue. Only a very small amount of the helium gas flowing through the Renuvion handpiece is converted into helium plasma while the remaining helium gas in the flow stays cool. This cool helium gas absorbs heat more efficiently than air and draws excess heat away from the tissue during treatment. The result is energy that simultaneously provides precise tissue heating for tightening and substantial tissue cooling to protect non-targeted tissues.
J-Plasma energy has been shown to be a safe and effective advancement in numerous surgical procedures where precise targeted delivery of energy coupled with minimal spread of heat to adjacent tissue is beneficial. In cosmetic procedures, this allows for more carefully controlled heating (coagulation) and tightening of tissue with minimal effect on adjacent non-targeted tissue.
